The METAL SHARK® FL is a flat metal detector designed for installation under or between conveyor lines, specifically for inspecting non-wovens, textiles, fabrics, and films. Its flat detector surface, combined with rotatable mounting hardware, allows alignment with ascending or descending product paths, facilitating easy integration into existing conveyor systems.
Utilizing CASSEL's proprietary 4-quadrant technology, the METAL SHARK® FL achieves high detection sensitivity, capable of identifying even tiny magnetic and non-magnetic metal particles, such as iron, aluminum, and stainless steel, across the entire width of the product. The system features autocalibration and a TeachAssistant for intuitive control and straightforward installation. Additionally, it offers low maintenance with automatic balance and calibration control, ensuring reliable operation over time.

Flat Plate Metal Detector Product Details
MPI’s Flat Plate Metal Detector operates using an inductive sensing plate that is installed either directly below or above a conveyor belt. As product passes across the sensor plate, an electromagnetic field is generated and continuously monitored for disturbances.
When a metallic contaminant passes through or over the sensing area, it creates a disruption in the field. The system’s digital signal processor analyzes this signal, determines if it exceeds preset thresholds, and immediately triggers an alert or activates a reject mechanism downstream.
The sensor plate provides uniform sensitivity across its entire surface area, ensuring that contaminants are detected regardless of their lateral position on the product. It’s ideal for applications where the product cannot pass through a tunnel or where space prevents the use of larger detection systems.
