Essential Workshop Tool

MPI’s Battery Lifting Magnet (BMP) is a powerful, compact device designed for safe and precise lifting of thin, large, or uneven ferrous loads without chains or a constant power supply. It features an internal rechargeable battery that allows users to energize or de-energize the magnet with a button push, ensuring a secure hold and easy release while preventing residual magnetism and protecting surfaces. The BMP is optimal for sheet metal handling and automation, increasing efficiency and reducing manual labor in metal fabrication. Capable of lifting various material shapes and weights—flat loads from 3,968 lbs. to 7,936 lbs. and round loads from 2,425 lbs. to 4,850 lbs.—it includes a remote control for up to 33 feet, making it suitable for challenging environments like steel stockist areas and machine tools. Safety features comprise a battery level indicator, shutdown during lifting, and alerts for low battery. Each charge lasts at least eight hours, with adjustable lifting functions to accommodate different steel plate thicknesses, facilitating controlled drops and multiple lifts, particularly useful for thin sheets.

Benefits of the Battery Lifting Magnet BMP From Magnetic Products, Inc

  • Battery-Powered Activation

Eliminates the need for continuous electrical power—ideal for mobile or remote lifting operations.

  • Zero Residual Magnetism

Ensures parts release cleanly and prevents double-picking or sticking, protecting material integrity.

  • Precision Lifting for Thin or Uneven Loads

Specially designed to handle large sheets and delicate parts that traditional magnets struggle with.

  • Remote Push-Button Control

Enables safe operation from a distance, keeping operators clear of pinch points and heavy loads.

  • Rechargeable Long-Life Battery

Offers hours of operation per charge and includes an easy-to-use charging dock for minimal downtime.

  • Compact & Lightweight Housing

Provides powerful lifting in a portable, easy-to-maneuver package suitable for various workstations.

  • Fail-Safe Design

Retains lifting force during operation—loss of power does not drop the load unexpectedly.

  • Enhanced Safety Interlocks

Prevents accidental activation or release, adding an extra layer of operator protection.

How It Works

When to choose battery-powered MPI Lifting Magnet BMP:

The MPI Battery Lifting Magnet BMP series feature a pole shape to handle round, angle sheet piles and flat materials – tubes, bars, I-, H- T- and Z shaped profile sections. The BMP, complete with remote control, is an ideal tool for handling situations where it is difficult to manually operate a lifting device. The BMP model manages flat loads from 3,968 lbs. to 7,936 lbs. and round loads from 2,425 lbs. to 4,850 lbs. which make the lifters capable of handling big format steel sheets, heavy blocks, various flame cuts, machine components, smooth castings or forgings.

The BMP features an internal core made of rare-earth magnets that can be magnetized or demagnetized using a battery-operated switching system. When the operator presses the control button, either on the unit or with a wireless remote, the battery provides the necessary current to change the magnetic field within the magnet body, instantly activating or deactivating its holding power. Once magnetized, the magnet securely holds the ferrous load without the need for continuous battery usage. To release the load, the operator simply toggles the switch, and the internal circuit of the magnet neutralizes the magnetic force, allowing for a clean drop without any residual adhesion.

MPI's Battery-Powered Lifting Magnets (BMP) comprise a range of lifting magnets equipped with a built-in battery power supply and significant lifting capacities. These magnets have a safety factor of 2:1, meaning they can lift more than double their rated capacity in tear-away tests. The 12V built-in battery enables up to eight hours of operation at a 50% duty cycle, and a remote control is included for safe operation from distances of up to 33 feet. A safety switch located beneath the lifting eye prevents accidental deactivation while lifting. The magnet cannot be activated if the battery voltage falls below a specified safety level, and visual and audible alarms alert users to low battery status.
