Suitable for Small and Thin Workpieces

MPI’s Rare Earth Round Chuck is a precision-engineered permanent magnetic workholding device designed to provide strong, uniform clamping for round or ring-shaped ferrous parts during grinding, turning, or light milling. Utilizing powerful rare earth magnets, this chuck delivers exceptional holding force while maintaining tight tolerances and surface finishes. Its circular pole arrangement ensures consistent magnetic strength across the entire face, preventing part slippage or vibration even during heavy material removal. Ideal for rotary surface grinders, lathes, and indexing tables, the Rare Earth Round Chuck boosts setup efficiency, reduces fixture complexity, and ensures repeatable, high-accuracy machining in toolrooms and production environments alike.

Benefits of the Rare Earth Round Chuck From Magnetic Products, Inc

  • High-Energy Rare Earth Magnets

It delivers stronger clamping than standard ceramic chucks and is ideal for high-precision operations.

  • Uniform Holding Across the Entire Face

Ensures consistent part flatness, stability, and superior surface finish.

  • Compact Round Design

Ideally suited for rotary tables, surface grinders, and turning machines handling circular parts.

  • Manual On/Off Control

Lever or wrench-activated switch makes engagement power-free and straightforward.

  • No Residual Magnetism

Parts release cleanly after machining — no sticking or damage to finished surfaces.

  • Low Maintenance, Durable Construction

Sealed against coolant and grinding swarf, ensuring long service life with minimal upkeep.

  • Versatile for Flat or Circular Workpieces

Holds rings, disks, and other round stock securely for various finishing operations.

  • Improves Setup Efficiency

Reduces the need for mechanical clamps, saving time and improving repeatability.

Rare Earth Round Chuck Product Details

How It Works

The combination of the solid top plate with relatively fine parallel pole arrangement allows for continuous control of the clamping force.

Mount

Secure the Rare Earth Round Chuck to your rotary table, surface grinder, or lathe faceplate.

Position Workpiece

Place the flat or ring-shaped ferrous part centered on the chuck’s face.

Engage Magnet

Use the manual switch lever or hex wrench to rotate the internal magnet core to ON. This aligns the rare earth poles, creating an outward magnetic field.

Clamp

The magnetic force firmly locks the workpiece with uniform clamping across the entire surface.

Machine

Perform grinding, turning, or light milling operations with confidence — vibration and part shift are minimized.

Release

Once complete, rotate the switch back to OFF to retract the magnetic field internally.

Unload

Remove the workpiece cleanly; there is no residual magnetism to cause sticking or surface contamination.

Perfect For
  • Precision surface grinding of rings, disks, and washers.

  • Turning operations on lathes or vertical turning centers.

  • Toolroom and production line workholding where consistent clamping is critical.

MPI’s Rare Earth Round Chuck — engineered for the ultimate in secure, precise workholding when it matters most.
