Quick and Simple Demagnetization

The MPI Tabletop Demagnetizer (TTD) is designed for fast, efficient demagnetization of flat and small cylindrical components. It can be used manually or integrated into production lines, such as under a conveyor belt. Featuring a lightweight aluminum body, stainless steel top plate, and a 10-foot power cord, it operates on 110V/60Hz and offers a large effective area with magnetic field penetration up to 40mm (1.57"). The demagnetizing field automatically adjusts based on workpiece size, ensuring thorough magnetism removal. The TTD supports expanded work areas by placing multiple units side by side and is backed by a one-year warranty. Custom sizes are available by special order.

How It Works

When magnetized workpieces are placed on or passed over the surface of the MPI Tabletop Demagnetizer, they cross an electrical plane that generates an alternating magnetic field. This alternating field exposes the workpiece to a magnetic polarity opposite to its retained magnetism, disrupting the aligned magnetic domains within the material.

As the part continues to move slowly across the top plate and is gradually withdrawn from the magnetic field, the influence of the alternating current causes the magnetic domains to lose their alignment and return to a randomized state. This process effectively neutralizes the residual magnetism that can interfere with further processing, assembly, or performance of the part. The key to complete demagnetization lies in the controlled, steady movement of the component across the active field and its slow removal, which allows the magnetic energy to dissipate evenly and prevents re-magnetization.
