Extreme Equipment Sensitivity
MPI’s Packaged Goods (BD) Metal Detector is a high-performance inspection system engineered for detecting ferrous, non-ferrous, and stainless-steel contaminants in packaged products conveyed through production lines. Designed for integration into automated conveyor systems, the BD Detector inspects products in cartons, pouches, trays, foil wraps, plastic containers, and other common packaging formats. Featuring high-speed digital signal processing, multi-frequency capability, and intuitive product setup, the BD Detector ensures accurate, reliable detection while minimizing false rejects—even with challenging “product effect” scenarios like high moisture or salt content. Its hygienic stainless-steel construction, user-friendly interface, and compliance with global food and quality standards make it ideal for food, pharmaceutical, pet food, and consumer goods industries.
Benefits of the Packaged Goods (BD) Metal Detector From Magnetic Products, Inc
-
Multi-Frequency Metal Detection
It automatically adjusts to the optimal frequency for each product, enabling precise detection of ferrous, non-ferrous, and stainless-steel contaminants—even in wet, salty, or high-conductivity products.
-
High-Speed Conveyor Integration
Designed to work seamlessly with in-line conveyors, maintaining high throughput without sacrificing detection sensitivity or triggering excessive false rejects.
-
Hygienic Stainless-Steel Construction
Built to withstand demanding washdown environments, with food-grade surfaces and IP-rated enclosures for safe use in sanitary processing facilities.
-
User-Friendly Touchscreen Interface
Intuitive navigation with auto-learn functions, multilingual support, password-protected settings, and real-time feedback for fast product setup and minimal training requirements.
-
Customizable Aperture Sizes
Available in multiple tunnel sizes to accommodate a wide range of product sizes and packaging types, from small snack pouches to bulk boxes.
-
Reliable Reject System Integration
It is compatible with a range of reject mechanisms—air blast, pusher, retractable conveyors, or drop flaps—ensuring that contaminated product is automatically isolated without disrupting line flow.
-
Supports Regulatory Compliance
Designed to meet global food safety standards, including HACCP, GFSI (SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000), and FSMA. Optional data logging and validation kits support traceability and audit readiness.
-
Advanced Product Effect Compensation
Effectively compensates for product characteristics (e.g., moisture, temperature, salt) to maintain detection accuracy and reduce nuisance rejections.
Packaged Goods (BD) Metal Detector Product Details
MPI’s Packaged Goods (BD) Detector operates as part of an automated conveyor-based product inspection system. As packaged products pass through the rectangular detection aperture (or “tunnel”), the system emits a balanced electromagnetic field generated by transmitter coils on one side and receiver coils on the other.
When a metal contaminant—ferrous, non-ferrous, or stainless steel—is present inside the package, it distorts this field, creating a signal that is instantly analyzed by the controller’s digital processor. If the signal exceeds the preset detection threshold, the system flags the product as contaminated and activates the reject mechanism.
The reject mechanism—such as a pneumatic pusher, air blast, or drop gate—removes the contaminated product from the line automatically, ensuring that only clean, safe packages continue downstream. The system logs detection events, and optional data capture software can support traceability, analysis, and quality control documentation.
